Graduating in Land Management from Reading University in 1988, Jackie went on to qualify as a Chartered Surveyor (in the Planning and Development Division) with a large West End surveying practice, specialising in retail development. She went on to work as a development surveyor for supermarket chains Kwik Save and then Budgens, finding sites for new stores and seeing them through to completion and opening.

After a career break to have her two children, Jackie embarked on a distance learning Post-Graduate Diploma in Conservation of the Historic Environment, inspired by living in a Grade II listed cottage and a general love of old buildings.

She started working with BCH in early 2007 and, since then, has had experience in assessing every type and size of building, although the greatest pleasure is still always derived from visiting historic properties.

When not working Jackie enjoys getting away with her partner in their motorhome travelling across Europe, Asian cooking and learning Welsh!
