Modern Slavery Act Statement

This statement is made by Barrett Corp & Harrington (BCH) in accordance with the requirements under section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 (the “Act”). It sets out how we continue our efforts to ensure that no slavery or human trafficking takes place in our supply chain or any other part of our business.

Our business

BCH specialise in insurance valuations for all types of buildings and carry out risk surveys on behalf of insurance companies for private homes throughout the UK. We currently employ around 40 members of staff and believe that the risk of human trafficking in our workforce is low. The majority of our team members are trained professionals who have been selected through BCH’s rigorous and transparent hiring processes.

BCH has examined the risk of modern slavery within its business operations on a risk-based approach and considers the risks of modern slavery in its supply chain to be low. The assessment is based upon the nature of our business and the services we provide to customers which presents very limited exposure to modern slavery risks.

Compliance

Since the publication of our first Modern Slavery statement in 2017, we have remained committed to ensuring that no modern slavery or human trafficking takes place within our supply chain or in any part of our business. In addition to a risk assessment and as part of our commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our business, we continue to ensure our compliance with the Act by:

– Highlighting awareness of our company policy which outlines our requirements under the Modern Slavery Act;
– Where appropriate and in accordance with the level of potential risk, introducing contractual provisions in our supplier contracts that require suppliers to comply with applicable anti-slavery and anti-trafficking laws; and
– Maintaining a risk-based assessment of suppliers in order to identify any modern slavery or human trafficking related risks.

Going Forwards

We are committed to continuing our focus on modern slavery and will take steps to review and where appropriate, further improve our processes to ensure that we mitigate the risks in all our business activities and within our supply chains.
